Sidney Ag Education / FFA Chapter Students Tour Agri-Plastics

About the Tour

As one of the activities at the end of the school year, students in the FFA Chapter tour local ag businesses. Chaney Peterson is the leader of the Ag Ed and FFA (Future Farmers of America) for Sidney High School. Chaney Peterson took ten students and toured the local ag related businesses. In addition to touring the Agri-Plastics plant, the group toured Dinklage Feed Lot, House of Flowers, Pennington Seed, and John Deer.

During the plant tour, the students learned how calf hutches are made from start to finish. They were able to see resin pellets pulverized into a fine powder and the powder going into the metal mold. The students then watched the mold spin inside the oven, and then the product taken out of the mold by the Machine Operators. Next, they watched the Trimmers cut out the vents, windows and doors. The FFA students learned about the advantages of calf housing such as temperature control, ventilation, and easy access to feed and water.
